Chee-Chee’s Kolaches
Probably the most traditional of all our family’s food are these kolaches that Chee-Chee makes in plentiful supply at all family functions - and she has done so for years. She has developed some variations on the original theme, but the basic idea has remained the same. Some of our best memories of Chee-Chee are when she gets the kids in the kitchen making these things for a large family gathering.
Yield: 40 kolaches
Time: about 30 minutes
Equipment: cookie sheet
375 degrees
Ingredients:
2 cans crescent roll dough
1 pkg Hormel “Little Smokies” sausages
Instructions:
Unroll the dough into rectangles which are pre-perforated diagonally to make the crescent rolls. Cut each rectangle on the non-perforated diagonal - dividing it into four triangles. Take each triangle and wrap it around a sausage, being sure to seal all the edges carefully. Place on a baking sheet and bake 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Variation: Place a thin slice of jalapeno and (or) cheese next to the sausage before wrapping in dough.
Dips: Jalapeno jelly, barbecue sauce, mustard or salsa
